Today, I’m talking about how to unlock true confidence, without feeling like you have to be someone you’re not!

Confidence – let’s talk about what it is and what it isn’t. It’s not something you’re born with, it’s something you develop with practice and experience and yet far too often, we can think we’re not confident and that’s just who we are and that’s simply not true.

Anyone can build confidence, but it begins with a compassionate mindset to allow yourself the time, space and practice, so that you can do just that – build it!

I mean think of anything you’ve learnt for the first time. It’s likely you won’t feel confident in the beginning, you may just be confident in your ability to learn the thing. It’s not until you’ve begun and practiced a few times over before you may feel confident in doing the actual thing. But sometimes there’s a disconnect between feeling confident or not, and your ability to do the thing.

I’ve been on this path myself for several decades as one of those people who appeared confident on the outside and yet I doubted myself on the inside. And that disconnect between what you think, or believe and what’s the actual truth based on fact, can be quite damaging in a lot of ways. So let’s go deeper on this now.

Embracing Vulnerability

Confidence often starts with acknowledging our vulnerabilities and being ok about it. It’s not about being perfect or even being correct all of the time. It’s not about being the loudest, boldest or brightest person in the room either. Authentic confidence is about being able to embrace all parts of you and accept yourself, flaws and all and know that you are loveable, worthy and enough as is, the end. It’s about falling down and being able to pick yourself back up again. It’s facing your fears and doing the thing in spite of your fear because you trust yourself to get through it, no matter the outcome, even if you fall flat on your face.

Some people think being vulnerable is a sign of weakness, but in fact, vulnerability is a show of strength. Getting vulnerable and being willing to embrace all parts of ourselves is the gateway to understanding and accepting ourselves more, so that we can develop more confidence. And this is where hypnotherapy can be absolute magic for helping us to not only embrace and accept all parts of ourselves, but to truly begin to love and accept ourselves so that we can experience the confidence we deserve to feel and not only that, feel unapologetic and uninhibited in showing up with confidence, without being afraid of what people might think or say about us.

The Magic Of Hypnotherapy To Let Your Confidence Shine

Now, let’s talk about the magic of hypnotherapy. It’s not about swinging pocket watches or mysterious chants; it’s a gentle, yet powerful transformative process that taps into the power of your subconscious mind which drives up to 95% of what you think and feel about yourself. You get to see the stories that have been playing out in your life and choose whether you keep them, or let them go.

I mean I always appeared confident on the outside, but now I have the confidence on the inside to match it too. And when things go wrong, I have the self love and compassion to help myself through it. It’s a process that goes way beyond surface level symptoms, diving deep into the roots of our thoughts and beliefs that are driving everything we do, or don’t do.

3 Questions To Unlock Authentic Confidence

You might like to close your eyes for this one and take a few deep breaths in and out to really ground yourself first before asking yourself these questions and listening to your deep intuition to reveal the answers. So do that with me now – just make yourself comfortable and allow your body to relax into the space. Gently close your eyes and take some deep breaths in through your nose, breathing in relaxation, and let the breath go, releasing any tension with it. Do that a few more times until you feel more grounded into your body and ready to ask yourself these important questions.

1. What stories do you tell yourself that hold you back and keep you distanced? Close your eyes and listen for the answer – don’t judge it as right or wrong, just take note of what comes up

2. What are the things you tell yourself you can, or can’t do? Again, just close your eyes now and let the answers spring to mind. You’re not here to judge yourself for the answers, just observe what is revealed and note it down.

3. What do you stop yourself from going after because you think it’s not available to someone like you, or that you’re not good enough to go for it? This is a juicy one and if you’re anything like me, there will be a long list of things. Remember: no judgment, just listening for the answers and noting them down.

And now that you’ve been through that exercise, which you can come back to any time, what came up for you? Are there some themes coming up for you? Some patterns? What did you learn about yourself today?

Now it’s time to rewrite the script, my friend. Because just because you’ve had these stories running, it doesn’t mean you have to keep running them as your Life Story – you get to rewrite it, however you wish.
