Debunking the myths about hypnotherapy

When I tell people I’m a Hypnotherapist I usually get one of two responses:

  1. their eyes glaze over and they think, I hope you she can’t read my mind right now
  2. they raise their eyebrow with curiosity and ask me a question or two

There are so many misconceptions about what hypnotherapy actually is and I get it, because before I tried hypnotherapy, I thought it was pretty weird too. So let’s take a look at some of the funny myths about hypnotherapy and see if you’ve thought any of these things yourself.

Myth: “Hypnotherapy is mind control.”

Fact: Ever seen a hypnotist make someone cluck like a chicken? That’s showbiz! hypnotherapy is far from mind control. It’s a collaboration between you and the therapist, guiding your mind to uncover and break free from limiting beliefs. In fact, it’s a better way for you to control your mind.

Myth: “Hypnosis is only for ‘woo-woo’ stuff.”
